Willem Mentz has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Skyborn Renewables (Skyborn) in May 2023.

A qualified Chartered Accountant from Cape Town in South Africa, Willem brings over 20 years of experience from the SUEZ Group, where he held various senior finance roles in the UK, Benelux & Germany, and France.

Willem's most recent assignment was as Interim CFO for SUEZ SA, where he successfully led the new group through its first 100 days post carve-out from the former SUEZ SA[1]. During which time the group approved a new Budget, published Combined Accounts, achieved a definitive Moody’s rating for the new holding company and issued its first Green Bond in excess of 2bn€. Leading up to the carve-out, Willem drove the Day One set up of the new finance organisation to ensure successful business continuity.

Prior to this, Willem held various other roles in the SUEZ Group, including Senior Vice President Group Controlling for SUEZ SA in Paris, CFO at SUEZ Recycling & Recovery Benelux & Germany based in Arnhem, The Netherlands and Group Financial Controller at SUEZ Recycling & Recovery UK, based in Maidenhead, UK.

Through his international career he gained extensive experience in all aspects of Finance. From strategy, M&A, risk management, and all traditional areas of Finance Operations.
